Net Diary - Robin Jacob
November 2007
I have just completed a two week trip to Los Angeles, where I attended the Hollywood Film Festival. I had the opportunity to go to a number of premieres of several international movies. One very funny one was from Norway, a totally “Non Politically Correct’ movie about the way women’s minds work and the trouble a man has dealing with one woman.
Even though I am quite sure something was lost in the translation, it was still extremely funny. ‘Gone with the Woman’ had me cracking up in the isles. Which is easy since I am the most non politically correct person you will meet?
The awards night was star studded, Richard Gere, Brad Pitt, Ben and Casey Affleck, Janet Jackson and Catherine Zeta-Jones graced the stage and the after party.
I had many meetings with various producers, agent, etc. and have now got a Hollywood based agent handling me there which is a major step forward. Anthony De Longis has joined the team as Fight director. He has ac long list of credits and is at the moment teaching Harrison Ford how to use a Bullwhip for the new Indiana Jones’ movie.
He has already made some very good suggestions after having read the script which he enjoyed thoroughly. I also met with Gary Daniels actor and Martial expert. He has made over 50 movies and is currently working with Andy Garcia on his latest movie. He read the script and liked it so much he accepted the role of Gyrth King Harold’s younger brother.
A number of other actors and crew are reading the script at the moment and I hope they too will attach themselves to the movie. I am pleasantly surprised by the positive feedback I have received about the script, given that I know there will be some rewrites, in fact I expect to be rewriting whilst in production. (Shock and horror from the studio executives!)
I now have executive producers sourcing funding for the production in Los Angeles, which is a step in the right direction. However, we are continuing to develop the project and hope to have development funding sourced within the next two months. His will allows us to spend time on location and do all the background work necessary to pin down the budgets, crew and style of the production before we present to a mojor studio.
